There are two things you need to take into account on the Monkey Run:
- These are small, shit bikes.
- You're riding over very bad terrain.
As we always say: "If nothing's gone wrong, then everything has gone wrong"
That being said, there are a few things you can do to ensure slightly less things go wrong..
The bikes tend to go shitty on us when they're over ridden. Bear in mind these bikes are not built for the purpose we are using them for. Make sure you stop every few hours, especially if it's really hot.
A lot of the problems you'll have involves things shaking loose. Get into the habit of tightening all the bolts regularly.
Fortunately, in Morocco there's lots of Chinese bikes, so most things can be fixed. You might have a problem finding any of the tiny little wheels though.
"The constant feeling that your bike is going to break underneath you really gets the adrenaline going."
-Andy Klymkowsky, Pioneer
"Have faith in your bike and tell it how wonderful it is at all times. Failure to do this will result in you pushing it up every hill on your route."
-Don McLester, Pioneer
