Please note: We have 3 days and shedloads of stuff to get through. You need to be on time for every session or we go on without you. Don’t forget your life jackets.
Training skippers will be with you in your ngalawas for the optional training day and the first 2 official days of training. The third training day is a short day sail without your training skippers BUT we will be escorting you and any team that needs a little assistance will have a skipper delivered to them by a Race Boat.
Optional Training Day - 28th December
Location: Gerry’s Bar, Nungwi
08:30 onwards - Find the crew at Gerry’s Bar and we’ll pair you up with a skipper. Your training skipper will run over the safety protocol for the day and then you’ll have your first taste of Ngalawa sailing. Bring your lifejackets and day sailing gear
12:00-13:00, Lunch - There are loads of places to grab food along the beach
13:00 - 16:00, Sailing continues - (LOW tide so launch at Cholo’s beach)
17:00 onwards - Join the motley crew at Gerry’s Bar for a drink or six
DAY 1 - Training - 29th December
Location: Gerry’s Bar, Nungwi
08:30 - Official welcome and intro to the crew. We will divide into 2 groups. Red and Green
09:00 - RED: Registration - bring your passports and insurance details

11:00 - RED: Sailing

09:00 - RED: Seamanship; Navigation; the route and checkpoints;
Cultural etiquette; How not to get ripped off and other useful stuff

Location: Gerry’s Bar, Nungwi, sailing to Tumbatu Island for the night

11:00 - Sail to Jongowe village on Tumbatu island and pitch camp
